We are pleased to announce the release of Visual MODFLOW Flex 2015.1, which includes new functionality and key enhancements that will allow groundwater professionals to simplify workflows and save time when building groundwater flow and transport models. Newly introduced capabilities and improvements include expanded simulation capabilities with MODFLOW-NWT, improved pumping well management and visualization, and easier cell editing and assignment of hydrogeologic properties and boundary conditions.

What’s New in 2015.1?

Support for MODFLOW-NWT

MODFLOW-NWT is a recent version of USGS MODFLOW that prevents cells from drying out, thus improving model stability and convergence in unconfined groundwater flow problems and dewatering applications.

Precise Cell Assignment and Editing

Easily assign model properties and inactive cells to individual grid cells or a series of cells, with the ability to copy boundary conditions to other layers.

Enhanced Pumping Wells Management

Define wells on a per-well level for easier data entry and editing, as well as improved visualization in conceptual and numerical models.

Improved Pumping Well Visualization

Visualize well screen intervals in cross-sectional views and render pumping well locations by pumping rate or concentration values.

Flexible Handling of Time Series Data

Conveniently import, view and edit pumping and observation well time series data using relative times.

Flexible Particle Tracking Options

Easily define pathline travel time and time marker frequency.
