Several of the key views in AquiferTest provide the option to export your data to customizable Microsoft Word document templates. A number of these templates are installed with AquiferTest. The data from the following tabs can be exported to a custom Word Report:
•Water Level Data: Generated from the tab, this report includes basic pumping/slug test information and water levels from the selected observation well
•Pumping Test Analysis: Generated from the tab (in a Pumping Test), this report include basic information about the pumping test, the current analysis plot, and a summary of the results (e.g. estimated conductivity, storage coefficient, and other values based on the selected test).
•Slug Test Test Analysis: Generated from the tab (in a Slug Test), this report include basic information about the slug test, the current analysis plot, and a summary of the results (e.g. estimated conductivity values).
•Site Map: Generated from the tab , this report includes a site map.
The templates are fully customizable so that once setup, you can have fully editable print-ready reports that suit your needs. The installed templates include all of the automated content placeholders (tags and bookmarks) available for each type of report.
In order to export your data as a Word Report in AquiferTest, you must enable and assign template files for each of the report types as described below.
To make use of these templates, select Tools > Options... from the Main Menu enable the Show Button on the Word Report tab and link to each of the four template types:
The following templates are included with AquiferTest and are installed in the folder:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\AquiferTest Pro\Templates
|--- AQT_Analysis_Report_Letter.dotx
|--- AQT_Slug_Letter.dotx
|--- AQT_Report_Data_Letter.dotx
|--- AQT_ReportMap_Letter.dotx
|
|--- AQT_Analysis_Report_A4.dotx
|--- AQT_Slug_A4.dotx
|--- AQT_Report_Data_A4.dotx
\--- AQT_ReportMap_A4.dotx
The templates that include "Letter" in the file name are sized using the North American letter (8.5 x 11 inch) size paper layout; while the the "A4" templates reports use the standard A4 size used in many countries throughout the world. The Letter templates are added to AquiferTest by default.
When building a Word report from a template, AquiferTest uses two types of content flags to automatically insert contents from the active project:
1.Simple text inputs use inline-level structured document tags as placeholders.
2.Tables and Figures use bookmarks as placeholders.
The default templates installed with AquiferTest include all of the available content flags. The templates can be used as-is with simple modifications (such as the company information block in the upper left of each template) or you can modify the templates to suit your needs. An example of one of the templates is shown below:
To modify a template, simply open one of the template files and edit the files.
You can edit/move tags within a template document by the following steps:
•Open the template file you wish to edit in Microsoft Word
•Enable Development Mode:
oIn Word, click File > Options to open the Word Options Menu
oClick the Customize Ribbon Section and check the box next to "Developer"
oClick OK
oClick on the Developer tab and select Design Mode - this will expose the tags:
This will allow you to view the full location of the tags so they can be copied/pasted/moved to other locations in the document:
oYou can select the entire tag to format, move, or delete it. It is important to note the AquiferTest will only replace tags with content if the tag uses an expected name (e.g. EdtProjectName as shown above).
You can move or delete table and figure bookmarks within a template document by the following steps:
•Open the template file you wish to edit in Microsoft Word
•Show Bookmarks:
oIn Word, click File > Options to open the Word Options Menu
oClick the Advanced Section and check the box next to "Show Bookmarks"
oClick OK
oBookmarks will be visible and displayed using the symbol in the document.
oTo find and set the name of a bookmark in Word, click on the Insert tab and select Bookmark:
oThis will open the Bookmark window and should display the name of and a link to each bookmark in the Template:
Figures (i.e. analysis charts and site maps) will be added to the "DiagramLocation" bookmark and Tables (i.e. water level data and results summary tables) will be added at the "DataTable" bookmark).
The size of the figures will be based on the column width where the bookmark is located and the resolution/aspect ratio of the image will be controlled as follows:
▪Plot figure dimensions: are based on the Diagram width and height settings in the panel on the right side of the plot
▪Map dimensions: are based on the Dimensions in Report width and height settings in the panel on the left side of the site map
Once the templates have been configured, you can create a report by clicking on the button on the main toolbar to print the desired report type:
Note, the button will not produce a report when viewing other tabs.
