Licensing Options
Stand-alone Softkey – The software can only be installed on and run from one computer as the license file is tied to the MAC address of that computer.
Stand-alone Hardkey – Uses a Dongle (a USB stick) and allows you to install the software on multiple computers. As the license file is tied to the dongle, you can move the dongle to different computers to run the software. The dongle must be plugged into the computer while the software is in use.
Network (Team) – Softkey licenses that provide the flexibility to manage and administer multiple licenses from a central license server in a network environment. Using the License Manager tool, workstations on the network that have Waterloo Hydrogeologic software installed can access and use the available licenses on the license server. Network licenses are sold with the number of seats that are required for concurrent users to access the software.

* The Basic Edition of Visual MODFLOW Flex is only available as a 32-bit application and is meant to be used with smaller/simpler projects. 32-bit applications such as the Basic Edition of Visual MODFLOW Flex are limited to a memory footprint of 2^32 bytes (or approximately 2GB bytes) of memory. Larger projects and/or large datasets that cause Visual MODFLOW Flex Basic to exceed this limit may result in out-of-memory errors that may cause the application to become unstable or lead to the sudden closure of the application. When working with larger projects and/or datasets, the use of the 64-bit Pro or Premium Edition of Visual MODFLOW Flex Pro (with an adequately provisioned machine) is recommended.
** MODFLOW-SURFACT is a proprietary version of MODFLOW, developed by HydroGeoLogic, Inc. (HGL). A demo version of MODFLOW-SURFACT is included with Visual MODFLOW Flex. The full version is available as an add-on.
*** MOD-PATH3DU is a proprietary particle tracking algorithm, developed by S.S. Papadopulos & Associates, Inc. in collaboration with the University of Waterloo. It is distributed separately and is available as a free download by registering at the MOD-PATH3DU website.
